Chris Brown to Perform at the Grammys

Chris Brown will perform at this year's Grammy Awards, three years after he nearly destroyed his career by battering Rihanna over Grammy weekend.

The Grammy organization announced that the "I Can Transform Ya" singer will take the stage at the 54th annual awards. Brown is up for three Grammy Awards this year -- Best R&B Album for "F.A.M.E.," Best Rap Performance (with Lil Wayne and Busta Rhymes) and Best Rap Song for "Look At Me Now."

Tony Bennett and Carrie Underwood will also perform together at this year's ceremony, as will Alicia Keys and Bonnie Raitt, who will pay musical tribute to recently deceased soul singer Etta James.

Brown, 22, saw his career and reputation nosedive in 2009, after he viciously beat then-girlfriend Rihanna following record executive Clive Davis' pre-Grammy party. Both Brown and Rihanna subsequently canceled their appearances at that year's awards ceremony.

Brown pleaded guilty to a felony assault charge, and was sentenced to community labor and five years' probation in a plea deal.

Rihanna is up for three Grammy Awards this year, with her album "Loud" nominated for Album of the Year and Best Pop Album, and her duet with Drake, "What's My Name?" up for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration.

The 54th Annual Grammy Awards will air on CBS on Feb. 12.
