'Smallville' to continue as online 'Season 11' comic series
Smallville is to continue as an online comic series, it has been announced.
DC Entertainment has confirmed that a virtual 'Season 11' - written by Bryan Q Miller - will debut online on April 13, with new chapters released weekly thereafter.
Smallville concluded in May 2011 after ten seasons. Miller wrote nine episodes of the CW drama and also served as executive story editor from 2010 to 2011.
The 'Season 11' comics will also be available in print, with the first issue set for release on May 16.
"Six months after Clark Kent donned the cape and took to the skies to save Earth from Apokolips… enter Season 11!" said Miller.
"New allies abound! New enemies afoot! And old friends return where they're least expected!"
Smallville characters confirmed to appear in the comic include Oliver Queen / Green Arrow (as played by Justin Hartley), Chloe Sullivan-Queen (Allison Mack), Lois Lane (Erica Durance), Lex Luthor (Michael Rosenbaum) and General Sam Lane (Michael Ironside).
Batgirl artist Pere Perez will illustrate the interiors of the 'Season 11' series, with Superman Secret Origin's Gary Frank and digital artist Cat Staggs producing the covers.
"Pere and colorist Chris Beckett have done a fantastic job of capturing the look of the show and the players, and Gary and Cat are knocking it out of the park on covers," Miller enthused. "I couldn't be more excited to help give seasoned viewers and new readers an all-access pass to Clark's first year in the cape."
It was previously rumoured that Smallville would continue in novel form, with Miller also being linked to the prose spinoff.
