Louie lines up for ice dance role
Dance supremo Louie Spence is to replace acid-tongued Jason Gardiner in a shake-up of judges on ITV1 skating show Dancing On Ice.
In another major change for the judging panel, Olympic figure skating champion Katarina Witt will take the place of Emma Bunton.
The pair will join head judge Robin Cousins, who returns to the panel once more when the show slides back in the New Year.
Australian star Jason has been with the series since its launch in 2006 and has earned a reputation for his forthright views. He was in the spotlight earlier this year after he unveiled a new head of hair following a transplant, and recently had a knife held to his throat by muggers in south London.
His replacement Louie rose to fame in Sky docusoap Pineapple Dance Studios, set at the famed London studio for which he is artistic director.
Louie - who has also hosted his own series Showbusiness - said: "I'm looking forward to being part of such a challenging and spectacular show, and can't wait to give my encouragement and critique on the contestants' dance and performance on the ice."
New judge Katarina dominated figure skating for more than a decade, winning Olympic golds in 1984 and 1988, and she also went on to win an Emmy for the 1990 film Carmen on Ice.
She said: "I can't wait to join the Dancing On Ice judging panel. As well as offering support and constructive advice to this year's celebrity skaters I'm also looking forward to working alongside my close friends Torvill and Dean."
Layla Smith, ITV's controller of entertainment, said of the new arrivals: "The pair have a wealth of experience which they will be bringing to the new series. Their unique flare and passion for their professions will doubtless make for some interesting debates."
She added: "We'd like to thank Emma Bunton and Jason Gardiner for their valued contribution during previous series and wish them both all the best with their future projects."

Top Gear presenter Jeremy Clarkson has become embroiled in further controversy after branding people who throw themselves under trains as "selfish".
The 51-year-old, who was forced to apologise earlier this week after saying all striking workers should be shot, reiterated his view that those who take their lives at railway stations cause "immense" disruption for commuters.
In his column in The Sun newspaper Clarkson said: "I have the deepest sympathy for anyone whose life is so mangled and messed up that they believe death's icy embrace will be better.
It is a very selfish way to go because the disruption it causes is immense
"However, every year around 200 people decide that the best way to go is by hurling themselves in front of a speeding train.
"In some ways they are right. This method has a 90% success rate and it's extremely quick.
"However, it is a very selfish way to go because the disruption it causes is immense.
"And think what it's like for the poor train driver who sees you lying on the line and can do absolutely nothing to avoid a collision."
Later in the article the presenter refers to those who choose to jump in front of trains as "Johnny Suicide" and argues that after a death trains should carry on their journeys as soon as possible.

He adds: "The train cannot be removed nor the line re-opened until all of the victim's body has been recovered. And sometimes the head can be half a mile away from the feet.
"Change the driver, pick up the big bits of what's left of the victim, get the train moving as quickly as possible and let foxy woxy and the birds nibble away at the smaller, gooey parts that are far away or hard to find."
Paul Farmer, chief executive of the mental health charity Mind, described the comments as "extraordinarily tasteless", especially in the wake of the death of footballer Gary Speed.
He told BBC Radio 5 Live: "I think it's extraordinarily tasteless in its tone.
"I think there will be many people who have lost loved ones to suicide and people who have contemplated suicide that will think it is in extremely bad taste.
"It stands out like a sore thumb from what is increasingly a more supportive approach to suicide by the media.
"People will feel like he is trivialising the subject and dismissing people who have taken their own lives."
Mr Farmer added: "This is a man who really doesn't understand what he is talking about."

Last Friday, the broadcaster attracted just 3.7% of the total audience, but that figure was boosted to 7.5% as Peter Kay's Top 43 Greatest Comedy Moments nabbed 2.51m viewers (11%) from 9pm. The comedy special took a further 197k (1.2%) on timeshift. Peter Kay: Live at the Bolton Albert Halls followed with 2.35m (18.4%) and a further 279k (4.1%) on +1.
Earlier on Channel 4, Come Dine With Me continued to draw upwards of a million viewers, tallying 1.14m (4.8%) from 8pm.
On ITV1, Wild Britain with Ray Mears entertained 3.23m (13.8%) at 8pm, and 8.41m (34.8%) saw Fatima's exit from I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!

Mastermind quizzed 2.02m (8.6%) on BBC Two, before The Accidental Husband and Coast reduced the broadcaster's figures to 1.14m (4.7%) and 700k (2.9%).
On Channel 5, Ice Road Truckers stayed strong with 1.24m (5.3%), though a screening of Black Hawk Down drew just 707k (3.5%).
ITV1 dominated primetime with a 30.2% audience share. BBC One followed with 18.9%. In a reversal of Friday night ratings protocol, Channel 4 came third with 7.5% while BBC Two and Channel 5 took 5.9% and 3.2%.

Jason Gardiner has insisted that he chose to leave Dancing On Ice, following claims he was fired.
It was announced yesterday that Louie Spence and Katarina Witt would be replacing Gardiner and Emma Bunton as judges on the ITV1 skating competition, making Robin Cousins the only remaining original judge.
The Mirror reports that Gardiner was angry after producers secretly auditioned Spence for the role.
"I can assure you I am not upset nor was I fired from DOI. Fact," Gardiner wrote on Twitter.
The judge had often caused controversy on the show with his harsh comments to contestants. He famously told former judge and current head coach Karen Barber: "If your opinion still mattered, you'd be on the panel."
An ITV insider said: "There have been criticisms that Jason had got too harsh, with many viewers questioning whether he was qualified to criticise ice skating, but nobody will be able to say that about Katarina.
"She is an international superstar in the skating world, and the producers have approached her several times over the years so it's great to finally get her. Viewers don't mind fair criticism, but there is a real feeling that last year things went too far."
