Jason Isaacs's 'Awake' launches with 6.2m

Jason Isaacs's Awake made a solid start last night, according to Nielsen overnight data.

NBC's new fantasy crime drama premiered with 6.2m (1.9), helping the network to its best performance in the 10pm hour since April 2011.

Despite contending with lighter competition, the Peacock Network's other programming continued to suffer: 3.8m (1.8) watched 30 Rock at 8pm, Parks and Recreation had 3.8m (1.7) at 8.30pm, then The Office amused 5m (2.5), and Up All Night drew 3.5m (1.6) at 9.30pm.

American Idol soared to a huge 18.3m (5.3) between 8pm and 10pm, a figure aided by the fact CBS and ABC both broadcast repeats all night.

The Big Bang Theory mustered 11.1m (3.2), hindering a new episode of Rob, which logged an all-time low of 9m (2.6) for CBS at 8.30pm.

Reruns of Person of Interest (9.5m/1.8) and The Mentalist (8.9m/1.7) followed on the Tiffany Network.

Meanwhile, Wipeout (4.5m/1.3), Grey's Anatomy (3.4m/1.1) and Jimmy Kimmel (3m/1.3) aired on ABC.

Elsewhere, The Vampire Diaries (1.1m/0.4) and Supernatural (952k/0.3) on The CW were repeats.
