'Glee,' 'New Girl' and 'Raising Hope' Renewed by Fox
The "New Girl" is settling in: Fox has renewed the Zooey Deschanel comedy, as well as fellow Tuesday comedies "Raising Hope" and "Glee."
"Glee" will be returning for its fourth season, while "Raising Hope" has signed on for a third and "New Girl" will enter its second.
“Over the past season, 'New Girl' has become the hottest new appointment series for young adults; 'Raising Hope' has established itself as one of the smartest and most unique offbeat comedies on television; and 'Glee' has continued its success as a genre-defying, global cultural phenomenon,” Fox Broadcasting Company's president of entertainment Kevin Reilly said of the renewals. "All three of these comedies add a fresh and distinctive flavor to our Tuesday nights, and I’m really happy to bring them back to our air next season."
"New Girl," which premiered in September, proved a hit for the network from the beginning, posting an impressive 4.8 rating/12 share in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic and drawing in 10 million total viewers with its premiere. Though ratings have slipped, it is Fox's highest-rated show this season behind "American Idol" and "X Factor."
"Glee" has had lower ratings in its current, third season than in its first two, but continues to pull big numbers for Fox. "Raising Hope" trails "New Girl" and "Glee" in the ratings, but still performs solidly.
