'Dallas' Larry Hagman given "sensitive" send-off, says Patrick Duffy

Dallas star Patrick Duffy has insisted that his late co-star Larry Hagman will be given a "sensitive" send-off.

Hagman's oil tycoon character JR Ewing will be killed off in a whodunnit murder plot, intended to reflect the hugely successful 'Who Shot JR?' storyline from the original Dallas.

"We'll be dealing with the situation [of Larry's passing] in a really artistically sensitive, correct way," Duffy - who plays Bobby Ewing - told the Los Angeles Times.

"In lesser hands - more commercial hands, if you will - my fear is that it might not have been done nearly so well."

Exec producer Cynthia Cidre also promised that JR's exit storyline will be the character's "masterpiece".

"Our mission is to give Larry Hagman and JR a proper send-off," she said. "This is a character who will have the last laugh, no matter what."

New episodes of Dallas air on TNT on Monday nights and transmit on Channel 5 in the UK the following day.
