David Walliams 'Mr Stink' books adapted for BBC One comedy TV series

BBC One is adapting David Walliams's Mr Stink books for a comedy TV series.

The Little Britain comic's children's novel has sold 250,000 copies and was shortlisted for Blue Peter's 'Book of the Decade' title.

"I am beyond thrilled that BBC One is adapting my children's book Mr Stink into a family film. I have written the script and can't wait to see actors bring it to life," said Walliams.

Mr Stink follows the story of a schoolgirl who forges a friendship with a homeless man that hides in her family's garden shed.

The Britain's Got Talent judge has penned other children's books including The Boy in the Dress, Billionaire Boy and Gangsta Granny.

BBC One controller Danny Cohen said that Mr Stink was a "heart-warming, nose-clenching and funny tale which will appeal to viewers of all ages".

Head of BBC comedy Mark Freeland commented: "I am delighted that the BBC is continuing its relationship with the multi-talented David Walliams. Mr Stink has become an instant classic and it's so exciting to see it come to life on TV."

'Archer' Chris Parnell: 'I'm not like Cyril'

'Archer' Chris Parnell: 'I'm not like Cyril'

Archer star Chris Parnell has said that he doesn't see much of himself in his character Cyril.

The actor, who has lent his voice to Cyril in the FX animated comedy since the first episode, added that the lack of similarity between them makes playing him all the more fun.

Parnell said during a conference call: "Certainly there's some insecurity there that I can relate to. I don't think I'm too much like Cyril otherwise.

"I'm not whiny, I don't think. God, I hope not. I do not commit infidelities. I haven't gone on any missions like an agent. And I don't really know that much about accounting and comptrolling and such. So he's a pretty different person than me, which is also part of what's fun about doing it."

Parnell also said he loves interacting with the characters of Malory (Jessica Walter), Lana (Aisha Tyler) and Archer (H Jon Benjamin).

"Malory is such an evil bitch, so that's very specific to respond to and to deal with - although we did have a romance, a bit of an afternoon of love last season," he commented. "Lana is a very strong, interesting character, and we of course have our history.

"With Archer, Archer is also not the nicest guy and it's fun to play that reaction to him and just let all my feelings about him come out."

Parnell continued: "Cheryl/Carol and Pam and Gillette - they also make me laugh a lot. I don't interact with them as much, I guess, but I don't know that I could pick favourites exactly."

Archer season three continues on Thursdays on FX.

'The Simpsons: Tapped Out' announced: Free-to-play iOS game

The Simpsons: Tapped Out has been announced by EA.

The free-to-play title has been developed in collaboration with show writers, animators and voice talent.

It sees Homer accidentally cause a meltdown that wipes out Springfield and scatters its residents.

As well as rebuilding the town and finding characters from the show, other activities include making Apu working long shifts at the Kwik-E-Mart, growing Tomaccos and partying with Duffman.

The Simpsons: Tapped Out will be available for iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPad, iPad 2, iPod touch 3 (3rd generation) and iPod touch (4th generation), and requires an internet connection to play.

A spokesperson for EA has told Digital Spy that no release date has been set.

Simpsons creator Matt Groening was recently awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame ahead of the 500th episode of his hit animated sitcom.

'Dancing on Ice' Heidi Range: Katarina Witt comments felt personal'

'Dancing on Ice' Heidi Range: Katarina Witt comments felt personal'

Dancing on Ice star Heidi Range has said she believes that judge Katarina Witt was biased against her.

The Sugababes singer, who was eliminated from the ITV contest along with Sebastien Foucan on Sunday (February 19), took issue with Witt's statement that she was unable to get herself into lifts like the other girls.

"It was unfair because it was never said to any of the other girls, 'Oh he puts you in your lifts'," Range told The Sun. "With the other girls it was always acknowledged what they'd done to hold themselves and get into that lift.

"But with mine she seemed to dismiss how much effort I put into them. You have to go for it and hold yourself in there and it is terrifying. It was never said to any of the other girls. I took it personally because it was a point she made every week."

Range added that she didn't appreciate Witt's comments given how much work she has put in to overcome her fear of lifts.

"Your skating is important but for the audience at home, they want to see the big lifts," she explained. "[Partner] Andrei Lipanov and I would go and practise for an hour each day off the ice - lifts, so I was getting used to the feelings so we could put those big elements into the routine.

"So I worked really hard on them and then it wasn't [noted], it was just like, 'Oh he put you there'. I don't think [Witt's] done lifts, she's an amazing, incredible skater but it did get to me a little bit."

Dancing on Ice continues Sunday (February 26) at 6.50pm on ITV1.

Charlie Sheen sorry for "disrespectful" Ashton Kutcher comments

Charlie Sheen sorry for "disrespectful" Ashton Kutcher comments

Charlie Sheen has apologised for his "disrespectful" comments about his Two and a Half Men successor Ashton Kutcher.

The 46-year-old, who was fired from the sitcom last year after a series of public outbursts, said last week that he was "tired of pretending that [Kutcher] doesn't suck" and accused writers of letting the show "go adrift".

Sheen has since published an open letter to Kutcher saying that he was sorry for throwing the actor "into the crossfire" when expressing his distaste for the show.

"Dear Ashton, my bad," the letter obtained by TMZ started. "I was disrespectful to a man doing his best.

"I got excited and I threw you into the crossfire, but the rest of my statement I stand behind. You however, deserve better. Safety in your travels good sir."

Sheen has previously spoken highly of Kutcher's performance in Two and a Half Men.

Last month, he called for the CBS sitcom to be axed after the latest season.

Amy Childs, Harry Derbidge to remake Paris Hilton's 'The Simple Life'?

Amy Childs, Harry Derbidge to remake Paris Hilton's 'The Simple Life'?

Former The Only Way Is Essex stars Amy Childs and Harry Derbidge are reportedly remaking Paris Hilton's reality show The Simple Life.

The cousins' new Channel 5 format will see them try their hand at a variety of different careers and tackle everyday challenges, just like Hilton and Nicole Richie in the US original.

Tasks set for Childs and Derbidge will include going deep-sea fishing in the Outer Hebrides, heading underground in a Welsh mine and experiencing life on an American ranch.

The pair were recently snapped working at a pizza chain for what was believed to be a new advertising campaign, though this has now apparently been identified as another Simple Life assignment.

Childs wrote when the images were published: "busy day today with @MrHarryDerbidge all I'm gonna say is we can't wait to tell you what were doing #allwillberevealvedsoon (sic)."

Derbidge, meanwhile, teased: "On way to the new project with @MissAmyChilds #allwillberevealved."

"The show will be just like The Simple Life but, dare I say it, even more ridiculous," a source told The Sun. "Amy and Harry are not exactly known for their ability to do everyday tasks so it's a car crash waiting to happen.

"In fairness, they are quite funny as a duo and bosses are hoping their daft chemistry will keep people entertained."

Childs denied rumours earlier this month that she was returning to TOWIE following the end of her Channel 5 solo project It's All About Amy.

THE WIDOW DETECTIVE (CBS) - Conor Leslie and Natalie Martinez are the first to be cast in the drama pilot, about Denny Brennan, a decorated detective who has lost three partners in the line of duty and serves as the male figure in the lives of his fallen partners' families. Davis Guggenheim is directing the CBS Television Studios-based hour from a script by David Hubbard. (Deadline.com)
